Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the Website Screenshot Generator.
How does the screenshot generator work?
A remote browser opens the website at the size you choose, waits for it to load and captures an image, which then appears right here for you to download. Most captures take 10 to 40 seconds, and repeat captures of the same page are much faster.
What does full page mean?
A normal screenshot shows only what fits on one screen. A full page capture scrolls through the whole page and saves everything from the header to the footer as one tall image.
Why did my screenshot fail?
Some websites block automated browsers, load very slowly or show a cookie or security check first. Wait a minute and click Take Screenshot again. If it still fails, the site is probably blocking screenshot tools.
Can I capture pages behind a login?
No. The screenshot browser can only see public pages, just like a visitor who is not logged in. For private pages, use your own browser's screenshot or print to PDF feature.
Is the screenshot always up to date?
Captures are kept for about 30 minutes so repeat requests are instant. If the page changed very recently, wait a little and click Retake to get a fresh capture.
