Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Schema Markup Generator.

What is schema markup?

Schema markup is structured data that describes your content in a format search engines understand, using the shared vocabulary from schema.org. It can make your page eligible for rich results like star ratings, prices, event dates and breadcrumb trails.

Why JSON-LD instead of microdata?

JSON-LD is Google's recommended format because it sits in a single script block, separate from your visible HTML. That makes it easier to add, update and debug without touching your page design.

Will schema markup guarantee rich results?

No. Valid markup makes a page eligible, but Google decides whether to show rich results based on quality, relevance and its policies. The markup must also match content that is visible on the page.

Where should I place the code?

Paste the script in the head or anywhere in the body of the page it describes. In WordPress, you can use a header and footer code plugin or a Custom HTML block.

Can I add more than one schema type to a page?

Yes. A product page might have Product, BreadcrumbList and Organization markup together. Add each script block separately, or combine them in a single graph if you are comfortable with JSON.
