Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Paragraph Counter.

How does the tool separate paragraphs?

A new paragraph starts after one or more empty lines, which is how most editors and websites separate paragraphs. Single line breaks inside a block are treated as part of the same paragraph. If your text uses single line breaks for paragraphs, add a blank line between them first.

How long should a paragraph be on a website?

On the web, two to four sentences or roughly 40 to 80 words per paragraph works well, because long blocks look intimidating on phones. Printed and academic writing can use longer paragraphs. The breakdown bars help you keep a comfortable rhythm.

Does copying from Word or Google Docs keep paragraphs?

Usually yes. When you paste from Word or Google Docs, paragraph breaks come across as line breaks. If everything appears as one paragraph, the source may be using spacing instead of real line breaks, so press Enter twice between paragraphs to fix it.

Is my text stored?

No. The counting happens locally in your browser and nothing is saved on our servers.
