Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Password Generator.

Are passwords generated here safe to use?

Yes. They are created in your browser using the Web Crypto API, which is designed for security. Nothing is sent to our servers or saved, and the page works even offline once loaded.

How long should my password be?

Use at least 12 characters, and 16 or more for important accounts like email and banking. Length adds more strength than complexity, which is why long passphrases are also a great choice.

What does entropy mean?

Entropy measures how unpredictable a password is, in bits. Each extra bit doubles the number of guesses an attacker needs. Around 70 bits is strong for most accounts, and 100 or more is very strong.

Why exclude look-alike characters?

Characters like 0 and O, or 1, l and I, are easy to confuse when reading or typing a password. Excluding them avoids mistakes, especially when sharing passwords verbally or on paper.

How do I remember all these passwords?

Use a trusted password manager to store them securely, and protect it with one strong passphrase plus two factor authentication. Never reuse the same password on different sites.
