Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Word Frequency Counter.

What does the Share column mean?

Share is the percentage of all words in your text taken up by that term. For phrases, the phrase length is included, so a two word phrase that appears 10 times in a 1,000 word text has a share of 2 percent. This makes it comparable with keyword density figures.

Which words are treated as common words?

Common words, often called stop words, include articles, pronouns, prepositions and helper verbs such as the, a, is, and, of, to and you. They are needed for grammar but rarely tell you what a text is about, so hiding them makes the useful terms easier to see.

Is the analysis case sensitive?

No. Words are converted to lower case before counting, so "SEO", "Seo" and "seo" are treated as the same word. This gives you a more accurate picture of how often you use a term.

How many words can I analyze?

There is no fixed limit. The table shows the top 200 terms so it stays easy to read, and the summary numbers at the top always include your whole text.
